Check here at least weekly for video updates on our turtles, Alice and Dorothy. We will be posting videos, narratives, and helpful study resources. Look for video of the turtles swimming, hiding, being fed, and routine measurements.

Weekly Measurements:

Be a part of our Wood Turtle Head Start project, even if you’re stuck at home! We will measure the turtles weekly and you can use the data to do your own Wood Turtle project, or just follow along for fun.

Here’s a link to our Google spreadsheet with all the data we have, from hatching, to today’s measurements.

Here’s Alice and Dorothy eating their special turtle jello, shortly after hatching.

Video Updates (newest first, older videos deleted weekly)

Here’s Jessica taking a full set of measurements. How much have the turtles grown since the previous measurement video one month ago (below)?

We will be conducting at least monthly recorded measurements of the turtles, so you can follow along. Check the embedded data graph and download the notebook to track their growth and record your thoughts about how best to save Wood Turtles.

Note how much bigger and more orange our baby Wood Turtles are in this feeding video than the one from a month ago, just below.

March 18, 2020 Feeding time for Alice and Dorothy! Alice is the bigger eater these days, a reversal from the first few months. Maybe that’s why she’s catching up in weight.

March 17, 2020. Alice and Dorothy, our Head Start Wood Turtles, are enjoying their new tank furniture and growing in leaps and bounds. They love hiding in their cave.
