What we do

Every season, the members of the conservation club choose a project together that will help local wildlife and seek to better understand the natural world. We begin each day with a snack banquet and a meeting with some silly fun. Then we head out on the trails to work on our project. We might put up trail cameras to study animal behavior, figure out how to save frogs in trouble, protect otters, map out all the trails in an area, or inventory all the birds and insects in the field.

Why we do it

The conservation club meets weekly mostly because it's fun to explore nature, learn, and participate on projects that help the community better understand their local environment and protect it.

What you can do to help

Here are some helpful ways to protect your local wetlands and environment:

  • Pay close attention to amphibian crossings on rainy nights in early spring

  • Avoid driving

  • Join an amphibian crossing team

  • Explore and respect nature making sure animals you observe or capture are responsibly returned to their environment unharmed.

  • Support local conservation groups like Kestrel Education Adventures so more people like us can make a positive impact in their local natural environment.
