Summer Adventures Camp

Enrollment to open in January 2025

The information below is about our Summer 2024 programs. Summer 2025 programs will be similar.

Explore, Imagine, Create, Discover

Kestrel’s Summer Adventure camps are a unique experience based on nature, imagination, community, and independence. Our carefully planned days follow a storyline into wild places where we connect directly with wildlife or learn to live off what we find around us. Our activities flow together as we explore, make things, adventure, and play.

Our instructors are responsive, experienced, adult professional naturalists and educators who listen to children and understand that they learn best through opportunities to challenge themselves and use all their senses. Because of our small group and flexible approach, campers have opportunities to choose activities, to stick with a challenge for as long as it takes, to work on projects in a community, and to just take some time to sit alone listening to the forest or drawing a tree. Friendships are forged naturally in our supportive community where we have a daily practice of valuing, hearing, and appreciating everyone for their individual contributions.

Being Animals Camp for preschool through 1st Graders:

In this enchanted wildlife camp for little explorers, we will magically turn into a different local animal each afternoon. We will read and tell stories, play movement games, and find friends, food, and homes as our animals. Finally, we will go off in search of our fellow creatures! If your young child loves being in nature, they will find something to enjoy at this camp. Our staff understand that every child’s introduction to the natural world is different, and we build a culture at our camp that allows for them to be themselves, and pursue what interests them. We anticipate this camp being fully outdoors except in the case of dangerous weather conditions.
