LookLook cards are our wildly popular wildlife trading cards. These cards were designed in 2012 by Tim Ferguson Sauder and his student- run company, Return Design, originally at Gordon College and now at Olin College. Tim wanted to make something similar to Pokemon cards that would teach kids about local wildlife. 15 years later, these cards are in the hands of thousands of kids and former kids who have attended Kestrel programs, and traded in schools and forests all over Essex County and beyond.

History:

Tim and his design students at Gordon secured a grant from Sappi paper company to make their idea come to life. They reached out to Kestrel in 2012 to offer to work with us on the design and donate the cards to us. We sent ecologists and Magic the Gathering fans to help Return Design include ecologically accurate information and panels that would facilitate wildlife-related games.

Each card features an animal found in Massachusetts and includes standardized information about the animal, including habitat, size, and trophic level.

Tim and Return Design completed the design and printing and donated all packs of LookLook cards to Kestrel. There has only ever been one printing of the cards. We’re now down to just one box of sealed card packs.

AS OF AUGUST 2025, Camp shirts are only available for pickup at camp. We are offering the few shirts we have left and only have limited sizes. Use this link to pay for shirts if you find a size that you like while at camp.

This is a pre order form for camp tee shirts. You will love the soft materials and fun design of these shirts, and you can wear them to camp or anywhere else you go. We order the shirts from Custom Ink based on orders we receive, by no later than May 17th (EXTENDED TO JUNE 15th AT NOON). Tee shirts will be ready for pickup on your first day of camp. Order as many as you like, for adults and kids. We cannot ship your tee shirt, but if you would like it earlier in the summer than your camp week, you can pick it up at our office in Magnolia by arrangement with our staff, after July 7th
