Artificial intelligence (AI) policy statement 

Kestrel is a human-powered organization. We believe that the use of generative AI is overly resource intensive. It risks finding and spreading misinformation and leaking our own information and methods to those who could misuse them. It also erodes skill, sensory awareness, imagination, human connection, and ability to discern truth from false claims. We, as an organization, pride ourselves on good science, original design of our curriculum and programming, thoughtfulness, and the authenticity of our communication. Our words and our work are our own, and our source materials are also made by knowledgeable humans.

We do not use generative AI in our hiring process, outreach flyers, social media, curriculum or other programmatic materials, or communications.
